When a sinister threat from his childhood returns to haunt him, a father desperately fights his deepest inner fear. Only this time, the fight isn’t for himself; it’s for his family. This is the first PG-13 horror film to feature the "Lionsgate Red Gears" logo since Crowd Chronicle (2012). Patrick McKee: Ever since we moved back, I’ve been getting these butt-kickings about Jake being kidnapped. Bagman is essentially the definition of a generic horror movie. Almost everything it tries to do has already happened, and audiences are tired of these tropes. An evil entity tries to lure a young child away from his parents, who are too clueless to take effective action against it. There are cheap thrills, weak jump scares, silly characters, and a kid who looks eerily similar to Gage Creed from Pet Sematary (1989). Perhaps the most frustrating aspect is the parents’… irrational behavior. If your child seems to be in danger and there are multiple break-ins in your home, make sure to stay close to your child. However, these parents do a remarkable job of ignoring their child or keeping a considerable distance, allowing the entity to enter the house unmolested. There’s also the typical exhibitionist trash talk and one of the most generic modern horrors imaginable. Honestly, I kind of liked the entity and I think it has some potential to make a decent horror film with him as the antagonist. . Unfortunately, the film fails to stand out amidst the subpar horror that’s being released today, so it’s hard to imagine many people enjoying it. While there were a few moments I appreciated, overall it’s far from good. [5.2/10]
