Jean Reno filmed scenes for the film, but was entirely cut from the final film
Plot
A powerful CEO puts his career and family at risk when he begins a torrid affair with his much younger intern. Appears in Graham Norton in Characters: Nicole Kidman/Cynthia Erivo/James Norton/Chris McClausland/Benson Boone (2024).
The story revolves around a selfish, power-hungry, and narcissistic CEO who cheats on her husband, plain and simple
The film attempts to tell the story from a woman’s point of view, prioritizes emotions over logic, romanticizes the situation, and even attempts to justify her actions. At first, it relies heavily on the “strong, independent woman” trope, portraying her as a victim of oppressive men who want to see her fail as a CEO, but this message is later contradicted, suggesting that (some) women actually want to be subjugated by their male counterparts.
Their minds say A, but their feelings say B
This inconsistency not only confuses the narrative, but also undermines the intended message. The film also shows a lot of hypocrisy on the part of the female lead, which is possibly intended to shed light on the complexity of the female psyche.
If it was meant to be, it succeeded in some ways
However, the film is still very romanticized, unrealistic, slow, and boring, which makes it difficult to engage. After all, the film seems to appeal more to female audiences, which probably reflects its target audience.
